Soul and mind detox

I consider myself a grateful person. I always try not to take anything for granted and to discover the beauty in small things every day.

So I did during quarantine. Instead of complaining about the situation or getting overwhelmed by fear, I chose to do my part and be responsible during this crisis, but also find different ways to connect with myself and my loved ones.

The two months of isolation passed and I’ve learned to see things from a different perspective. I finally had time to look at a flower open up more and more everyday, to play with my dogs, to read a book, to enjoy the sunshine, to just live my life in a slower pace. I took everything as a challenge of: how to be happy locked in your home?

I found inspiration in simple things, I reconnected with friends, but I also got way too connected to my smartphone. One disadvantage I noticed for sure was this. Being the only communication tool with the “outside world”, my phone was almost all day in my hands.

Thus, my first getaway after quarantine, even though it was for one day, it felt like a week. Being able to go somewhere in the nature and enjoy a long walk in the forest made me realize how much we should appreciate our freedom - freedom of choice, freedom of movement, freedom of being wherever we want to be.

I didn’t only had the opportunity to see my home from a different perspective, but also my country and what it has to offer. I often found myself in a situation where I felt overwhelmed by all the possibilities I had when choosing a vacation destination or a terrace to drink my lemonade or a place to party with my friends, when you can actually have a really good time much closer than you think.

I am a huge nature lover and I just realized how much I missed the majestic mountains of Romania now, when I had the chance to visit them again. We need to learn how to respect our time more, our opportunities, our homes, our lives and our surroundings.

We never know when we will be trapped in our own mess and it better be organized, because otherwise we risk drowning in our own masterpiece.
